He studied at the Barcelona School of Architecture from where he graduated as an architect in 1900.

He worked with the architect L. Domènech i Montaner, but particularly with the architect A. Gaudí - on Casa Batlló (1904; Passeig de Gràcia, 43) and La Pedrera (1906-1910; Passeig de Gràcia, 92 - Provença, 261-265) - together with his brother, the builder Josep Bayó, who had previously worked with A. Gaudí on the Primer Misteri de Glòria del Rosari (First Mystery of Glory of the Rosary) on Montserrat. He also produced some Modernista works of his own in Barcelona, such as Casa Baurier (1910; Iradier, 5).

He was a professor at the Barcelona School of Architecture and showed a special interest in the study of the history of art and architecture.
