The widow of Josep Guardiola, a trader who had made good in the Americas from whom she inherited an enormous fortune, she commissioned A. Gaudí to build La Pedrera (1906-1910; Passeig de Gràcia, 92), also known as Casa Milà after her second husband P. Milà, although it belonged to her. Later on she sponsored the plan to build the Monumental Bullring (1915; Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, 749), designed by I. Mas i Morell.
