Women played a notable part in the fabrics sections at the art exhibitions which were held in this period. Aurora Gutiérrez was one of the most active and one of those who gained most popularity.

When still little she went to live in Barcelona and studied at La Llotja, the Barcelona School of Fine Arts, with Modest Urgell, Fèlix Mestres and Vicenç Borràs. She made a large number of print and lace designs which were reproduced by the press of the time.
